Visiting otro Grandpa

We went to visit my dad. He was doing his magic tricks for Eddie. You know the one where he throws an object in the air and pulls it out of your ear? Yeah Eddie liked that one.



Then dad tried to show us another trick where he makes his dogs chase a red light on the floor, and Eddie started to run with them.



The video below is one of the reasons I went to visit my dad. Video coming soon. I have to edit it a lot. Maybe I will have time this upcoming weekend. I love these types of interview videos. I hope some day Eddie will enjoy them!

School Update

Eddie is doing well in school. He loves to get up in the morning, get ready, have his breakfast and head out. I know there are a few things that are not perfect in the school. I have seen them and I tell myself, there will never be a perfect enough school or place for Eddie, unless he is home with me.

I have learned to look past the little things and see that Eddie is having fun and learning a lot in school. Learning things that I could never teach him.

When he comes home, he tells me about all of his friends, the songs he sang, the new things his teacher taught him.

I am still not sure if we are going to send him to school until he starts kindergarten. Dad thinks we should do it that way. I have even considered changing him from 5 half days a week, to 3 half days a week. I feel like he deserves some free time, during his pre school years.

I am almost leaning toward what dad says because I really do love that he has a lot of structure in school. Eddie loves structure. I don't enforce structure at home because, well, I am his mom. I love that he does things like put stuff away at school. I love that he knows all of his friend's names. I love that the teachers from other classes know him and say hello to him. I love to see him say good morning to people we walk by in the hallway. There are so many positives that the little things that bother me, pale in comparison.

I am still looking forward to the day that Eddie can transfer to the next class level. But, that won't be until he is fully potty trained. Eddie is making some progress. He is going #2 more often in the toilet, but I have to be on him about it. The progress he is making is that now he is willing to go, whereas before he was holding it.

One complaint I got from Eddie's teacher is that he is kissing the girls too much :S woops!
So, I have been teaching him that kisses are for family only. Other than that, he is doing good.

Now, wondering if enrolling him in a sport would be too overwhelming....

Memories to write down

I was eating a sandwich on whole wheat bread that looked something like this picture.
Eddie walks up to my food, takes a look at it and says "Like a poo poo!"

We went to visit my dad and he was telling us jokes that were making us laugh out loud. My dad's wife has a loud laughter. Eddie turns toward her and with a serious face asks "What's so funny?"

When Eddie calls dad at work, he tells him "Dad, come home to the family!"

Eddie likes to say "Mama and dad and Eddie are a family!"

Sometimes he will say "Dad and Eddie are best friends!"

One time I asked Eddie what Zero was doing outside, because Zero was running very fast and barking a lot. Eddie looked at me and then pointed at Zero and said "He's flying."

Zero was grooming himself. Eddie says "Look mama, Zero's eating himself."

 

Breakfast!

Eddie really wanted to serve himself yesterday morning. He is eating gluten free, organic, low sugar Kid's cereal and he LOVES IT! It's like KIX cereal.
This is his first time serving his own cereal.

Numeros

I picked up Eddie from school and he kept telling me to say nine in spanish. So, I started quizzing him on other numbers.

Eddie the front seat passenger

Eddie has been just wanting to sit in the front seat of the car. He even puts on and takes off his seat belt like a pro.


Yesterday, I took him for a spin up and down our street-It's not a busy street: We don't live in a cul-de-sac, but our street is closed off at the end.

You can hear in the video Eddie saying "weeeeeee!" When I turned around to go home at the end of the street, I took the turn a little fast (on purpose) and you can see he was a little concerned, but kept on going "weeee!"

LOL

Just wanted to take away this curiosity from him. Not doing it any time soon, though he listened and he didn't take off his seatbelt, like I told him.

Being polite-A memory to jot down

Today, at preschool, as we walked through the gate, where Eddie usually punches the password for me to get in: someone opened the gate for us. Eddie looked at them and let out a tiny toddler voice "Thanks!"

Then, as we walked into the lobby, he said "Good morning!" to a random person standing around in there.

What a cute and fun morning.


OH yeah, yesterday Eddie says to me: "Mama! Zero is eating himself."
Actually, he was grooming himself, but yeah.... A lot of fun times lately.

Eddie's 3rd Birthday Party Video

We had Eddie's birthday party at an inflatable warehouse party facility on Saturday the 28th. I think it was a good idea. We all had a blast and I am so thankful for all the people who love him too!



I have more video clips from his actual birthday (the 26th) but I have a lot of editing to do for work. I will get to those videos eventually. :) But I really wanted to upload this one.

Eddie's TB Test Update

The day of the test, I told Eddie we were going to the doctor. I told him they would check him and then give him a "poke." I pinched him a little to show him how it would hurt. He repeated to me that he was going to get a poke, but that it wouldn't hurt. I corrected him and told him it WAS going to hurt but that I would hug him after. (Thanks for the advice, Lynnette, about the hug.) That did calm him a little.
The TB test was not bad and Eddie was  a good boy, allowing the nurses to check him.

He did cry a little after they poked him, but he didn't pull away or anything. I hugged him right after and he stopped crying.

Two days later *today*, it was time to go back and get his skin's reaction checked.

Dad had the day off today. When it was time to go, I asked dad to go with us to our appointment.
Before we left, dad told Eddie we were going to the doctor. Eddie's face became so stressed and worried looking. We had to get down to his level and explain that they were not going to poke him, but they were just going to look at his arm. He wanted to cry, but he didn't.

At the doctor's they checked his arm and every thing was ok. So, he is good!

By the way, it's 1:22 am and we are up because Eddie took a late nap and woke up at about 10:30 pm!

It was a GREAT morning!

First of all, Eddie wanted to hold his own lunch bag to class.
Then, we walk into class and about 5 girls yell out "Good morning, Eddie!"
So, Eddie says "Good morning, everybody!"


Eddie went to sit down and have his snacks. Today, I packed him some diced celery sticks with soy nut butter, string cheese, and carrots. I had forgot that he liked celery, until grandma gave it to him the other day and she told me that he was eating them!
I walked away and looked back at him, he was already talking to another kid.

This week, Eddie's teacher has asked me to work on having Eddie pay attention to a topic, I initiate, for more than 10 minutes. She said that while he is in class, he finishes his work fast and then wants to move on to something else. She said he needs to be able to pay attention to one subject for at least 10 minutes. I will be working on that with him starting today.

But glad that these school days are getting better!

4th week day 3

Today, Eddie was READY for school. When I told him it was time to go, he went to the door and started to try to unlock it. He got in the car and was somewhat talking to me on the way there.

At school, Eddie likes to help me punch in the code for the gate.



Once we were in class, he sat down and had his snacks I packed for him:
Red and green grapes, cheese sticks cut into small pieces, tangerine slices and granola.

We have a Dr's appointment today and I am a little anxious and worried about it. It's a TB test for school. Also he will have his regular physical check up. I hate having needles stuck in him. But we have to do it.
